The Ladder of Success for Wrestlers

By Stan Tzogas
Climbing the ladder of success requires taking one step at a time. Jumping a step or steps often leads to falling down and failing to complete the climb to the top of the ladder. From what I have seen, I doubt that most individuals in Canadian wrestling know what is involved with international high performance training. I will therefore provide some insight into the minimal steps required to climb the ladder of success.

The Mindset and Tactics of a Champion

This is one of the most exciting times of the year because the season ending tournaments are upon us. Every high school athlete is striving to have a peak performance at the regional and state
tournaments, while the college guys are looking to turn it up a notch for the Conference and NCAA Championships. I have been attending the NCAA Championships annually since 1982 and the

You Gotta Pay Your Dues

Gary R. Vittorio – Wrestling Coach, Parsippany H.S., New Jersey

When you’ve lost the match and the hurt sets in
And you say “why did I lose?”
You have to search deep down inside
And ask “did I pay my dues?”

Don’t carry on while everybody’s “watchin’”,
Or shrug it off and say “I got burned.”
‘Cuz the real man takes stock of himself
And looks for any stone left unturned.

Did I run out of gas when the going got tough?
Was I skating when it came to condition?
Or did I pump the iron until it hurt

The Science of Wrestling

This annual publication is dedicated to the pursuit and use of the knowledge surrounding the noble and timeless sport of wrestling. Each year, an annotated bibliography of the scientific research, ublished in English, during the year in review, will be compiled and shared with those who work in the wrestling community. It is my hope that this work will spark further research, along with helping to educate those who are in a position to apply this knowledge. I am proud to be affiliated with this great sport.

Why Wrestle?

At some point in time every person that takes to the mats surely has the thought pass through their mind, “why wrestle?” But, year after year for centuries on end mankind has taken to the mats to struggle for the fall, the triumph, the victory.

There must be a reason why we wrestle.

Members of Sackville Wrestling Club are reminded that they are representatives of this Team, the community, the province, the country as well as their parents. The team will be evaluated by the actions of its members both on and off the mats. Taking this into account, we expect all our members to be considered in the highest regard. We therefore insist that members follow these rules and expectations:

Wrestling is one of the greatest sports there is for helping young kids build their character, develop self confidence, improve discipline, and strengthen their will to succeed. The life skills and success principles that young wrestlers develop while learning to wrestle are very valuable in progressing in life.

Youth Wrestling Guide

Of the many sports in which your child your child can participate, Wrestling is perhaps the most misrepresented, misunderstood, and underrated. The ratio of participation to public awareness is remarkably lopsided.

Each year hundreds of thousands of kids participate in this sport, yet the average person knows as much about wrestling as they might know about rugby or polo which combined, involve far fewer
athletes.
